Two structural steel column sections are joined vertically using bolted inner and outer splice plates at both the web and flanges. Pre-tensioned bolts in standard holes secure the plates across the joint. Loose fill plates are provided as required to take up gaps between mating surfaces. Inner splice plates are added where specified.
