A wide flange tube or pipe column passes through a grid of welded wire reinforcement. Diagonal number three reinforcing bars are tied to the top of the welded wire reinforcement mesh around the column footprint. A one-inch clearance is maintained at the column flange, and two-foot extensions are detailed typically.
