This isometric detail shows the termination and gap configuration of metal decking over structural steel framing members with a gap ranging from zero to one-half inch. Closures are not required for gaps of one-half inch or less. When headed shear studs are used, the metal deck must not be lapped in order to permit proper welding of the studs directly through the deck.
