A structural steel beam connects to a hollow structural section column using a shear tab welded to the column face and bolted to the beam web with two three-quarter-inch diameter erection bolts, backed by a backing plate per schedule twenty-two slash S five point zero point one. The top and bottom flanges of the beam feature a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld and a complete joint penetration weld with a backing bar top and bottom, designated as CJP-DCW top and bottom with an M testing requirement. An adjacent beam frames into the opposite side of the HSS column with a cap plate sized to match or exceed the largest beam flange. A metal deck per plan bears across the top of the assembly at the top of steel elevation.
