Deck penetrations measuring sixteen inches in diameter or square or less are reinforced with three-by-three by one-quarter-inch structural angles placed on each side of the opening. These framing angles extend two feet beyond the penetration on each side and are secured with one-half-inch diameter puddle welds at each deck valley. The reinforcement angles are omitted if the edge distance to a support is less than one foot.
