A thickened concrete slab edge bears on compacted subgrade, featuring a nine-inch vertical drop and a minimum depth of one foot six inches below grade. Two continuous number four reinforcing bars are placed within the thickened edge, with additional reinforcement sized per the foundation plan. The exterior finish grade transitions to asphaltic concrete paving or a concrete slab. A recess for storefront installation is provided where required by architectural drawings. A note specifies that the thickened edge is omitted at truck court slabs when the adjacent paving is also concrete.
