Steel bar joists span across a supporting steel beam sized per the roof framing plan, with a six-inch wood nailer matching the beam flange width positioned between the joists and secured using seven-eighths-inch diameter wood screws at twelve inches on center staggered with a one-inch maximum countersink depth. Angle braces measuring three inches by three inches by one-quarter inch are welded to the steel beam web with three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds at each joist location. The angle braces are installed after the roof is completed and must be coordinated with sprinkler piping. Braces are positioned no further than six inches from the top chord panel point unless an auxiliary web is installed.
