A structural steel column is anchored by a three-quarter-inch thick by sixteen-inch by one-foot eleven-inch embed plate centered on the column and reinforced with fifteen number ten bars at two feet four inches in length spaced at six inches on center each way. The column flanges attach to the base plate using a complete joint penetration weld with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on each side in accordance with D1.8-DCW standards. The web connects using five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on each side under the same D1.8-DCW standard. Anchorage utilizes six one-and-one-quarter-inch diameter F1554 Grade 105 anchor rods equipped with one-half-inch by three-inch square plate washers, supplemented by two three-quarter-inch diameter F1554 Grade 36 anchor rods with three-eighths-inch by three-inch square plate washers featuring standard holes. A center bar is placed between the rods. Anchor bolt nuts are tightened after the plate washers have been welded, and the grout access hole is filled as required.
