A concrete beam supports adjoining concrete slabs at differing elevations with dimensions sized per the structural plans and beam schedule. Top and bottom reinforcing bars extend into the beam section with ACI standard ninety-degree hooks. Stirrups enclose the beam core while typical slab reinforcement continues into the cast-in-place concrete decks. Six-inch minimum development lengths apply to reinforcing steel extensions at slab transitions.
