A non-bearing concrete masonry unit wall connects to the underside of a steel structure with a top bond beam containing two continuous number four reinforcing bars. An angle measuring 3x3x1/4 inches spaced at four feet on center acts as lateral bracing and is welded to the steel framing with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. A 3/8-inch angle or bent plate measuring six inches long is secured by a 3/4-inch diameter ASTM A325 anchor bolt with a 1/2x4x4-inch plate washer with a standard hole. A 1-inch minimum clearance is maintained at the top of the wall, with a maximum 4-inch spacing dimension.
