A hollow structural section member connects to an HSS column sized per plan with a two-inch clearance and a four-inch dimension from the support face. The connection uses a structural steel angle measuring four by four by three-eighths inches by zero feet six inches for column depths between four and six inches, or six by six by three-eighths inches by zero feet six inches for depths greater than or equal to six inches. A one-quarter-inch fillet weld secures the angle to the supporting column and connecting member.
