A structural steel wide-flange column is fully encased within a cast-in-place reinforced concrete boundary element and column section. Perimeter vertical reinforcement bars and closed ties surround the steel section. Concrete walls intersect the column on two adjacent sides, containing parallel lines of longitudinal reinforcement and edge ties tied back into the column core. Centerlines intersect precisely at the geometric center of the encased steel column.
