A vertical guardrail post connects to the top surface of an HSS stringer at a stair landing with a typical one-eighth-inch fillet weld. The post features multiple pre-drilled holes for attachment and extends upward to a verified height of three feet six inches to the top of the handrail assembly. The stair fabricator provides the guardrail in accordance with California Building Code requirements and architectural drawings. The underlying HSS stringer is sized per the structural framing plan.
