Concrete slabs and walls penetrated by pipes and conduits require specific spacing and size limitations to maintain structural integrity. The maximum diameter of the sleeve or conduit is restricted to one-third of the structural thickness or two inches, whichever is smaller, with additional restrictions applicable for post-tensioned slabs. Clear distances between adjacent sleeves must maintain a minimum spacing of three times the diameter or four inches minimum. Areas where clear distance requirements cannot be achieved are treated as structural openings.
