A hollow structural section beam bears on a hollow structural section column, capped with a three-eighths inch by five inch by five inch cap plate. Wood nailers at the top and bottom of the beam are secured with two 16d short nails at each location. Two-by-four blocking is installed at six inches on center to the nailer. A strap is provided per plan across the top of the assembly. The column includes a wood nailer to match the wall studs, with wood-to-steel connections per elevation. Wall studs are two-by-four, with sheathing omitted for clarity.
