A structural steel beam frames into a hollow structural section column with a five-eighths inch plate welded each side using quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides typically. A diagonal brace connects via a half-inch plate on each side fastened with two seven-eighths-inch diameter A325 bolts with standard holes in the hollow structural section and vertical laminated strand lumber in the plate.
