A slab on grade construction joint connects a first pour and a second pour. Reinforcement continues across the construction joint with a thirty-two inch lap splice, maintaining structural diaphragm continuity without through-cutting or trench-saw-cutting the fresh side of the joint. The joint is finished with a crack control saw cut on the second pour side. Concrete surfaces must be cleaned, free of laitance, and intentionally roughened to one-quarter inch with two inches of typical clearance.
