A hollow structural section HSS12x4x1/4 stair stringer connects below a glulam landing platform using a continuous L5x5x5/16 angle fastened with one-quarter-inch diameter by three-inch self-drilling screws spaced at twelve inches on center. The handrail assembly incorporates a railing top plate, typical hand railing plate per architect, and a bottom railing plate with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. A three-quarter-inch by two-inch steel bar is provided at four inches on center maximum, with a maximum three-quarter-inch steel plate at the handrail and stringer attachment at four feet on center maximum. The notched railing is arranged for attachment to the HSS stringer at forty-eight inches on center.
