The portal frame beam connects to the portal frame column using a tab plate that extends as required to suit the geometry. The support beam flange is cut and the web is extended to accommodate the connection. At specific locations, the tab plate spans the full height between the portal stiffener plates. Typical tab connections follow standard structural details.
