A concrete curb and slab step transition frames into a structural steel beam and column assembly. A built-up wide flange shape supports the transition, with plate thicknesses matching the beam web and flange and a minimum thickness of one-half inch. A sixteen gauge Z-closure runs horizontally beneath the step, while number four Z-bars spaced at sixteen inches on center are reinforced with continuous top and bottom number four bars extending eighteen inches into the concrete. The assembly transitions adjacent to a column sized per plan, featuring a four-inch concrete curb for the roof alongside an eight-inch concrete curb.
