A structural steel column base plate connection for a buckling-restrained braced frame. The assembly features a one-and-one-half-inch Grade 50 base plate welded to the column with complete joint penetration welds at the flanges and five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds at the web per D1.8-DCW requirements. Square plate washers with standard holes are welded around the anchor rods per American Institute of Steel Construction recommendations. Two two-inch diameter typical grout holes are provided in the base plate. Anchor rod nuts are specified to be tightened after the plate washer welds are complete.
