Aluminum pergola beams connect to a wide-flange column using galvanized hollow structural section beams measuring 8x8x1/2 inches with 3/8-inch end plates on each side. A 3/8-inch thick neoprene isolation bearing pad sits beneath the aluminum pergola beam, which is supported by an L5x5x1/2x0'-11" galvanized angle fastened with two bolts by the pergola supplier. The HSS members feature 1/4-inch fillet welds on the top and bottom, while an L8x8x5/8x1'-0" angle is welded to the wide-flange column with 1/4-inch and 3/16-inch fillet welds. A note specifies a one-sided connection at grid 4, with top of steel at 143'-11 5/8".
