This assembly features a wide flange column topped with a three-quarter-inch thick cap plate, secured by four three-quarter-inch diameter bolts. The wide flange beam is supported by this cap plate with a half-inch typical clearance. A shear tab is welded to the column web on three sides with a weld size designated as A, and connects to the wide flange beam web using a bolted connection. The beam sizes are determined per the structural plan, and the connection capacity is governed by the smallest beam framing into the location.
