This connection detail joins steel brace frame beams to a vertical steel column. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the web at the top and bottom, aligned with the beam flanges. A three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld secures the typical flanges and web. If the transition from beam depths exceeds thirty degrees, stiffeners are required for each beam.
