This assembly features a cruciform gusset plate configuration passing through a hollow structural section column. The gusset plates are sized per the brace manufacturer and are welded to the column using a one-half inch fillet weld. A nine-sixteenths inch fillet weld is applied at each corner of the gusset plate intersection. The column wall is notched to accommodate the gusset plate, with a one-inch typical clearance provided.
