WHERE STEEL BACKING IS USED IN CJP BEAM FLANGE GROOVE WELDS, STEEL BACKING AND TABS SHALL BE REMOVED, EXCEPT THAT TOP FLANGE BACKING ATTACHED TO THE COLUMN BY A CONTINUOUS FILLET WELD ON THE EDGE BELOW THE CJP GROOVE WELD NEED NOT BE REMOVED. 2.
