A cantilever bridge column base connection is anchored into a reinforced concrete grade beam. The column base plate sits over a three-inch layer of non-shrink grout above the grade beam cap. Anchor rods extend twenty-four inches into the concrete with square plate washers and transverse tie reinforcement. The concrete grade beam features perimeter ties spaced at six inches on center with additional ties in the top five inches, and bottom reinforcing bars placed with a six-inch clear cover. A designated protected zone extends upward from the base per structural specifications, and exterior steel elements require hot-dip galvanizing.
