An HSS beam is supported by an L5x3-1/2x3/4 angle with length adjusted to beam width minus LLV, welded to a steel column with 1/4-inch fillet welds on three sides. A 1/4-inch by 4-inch plate matching the beam width minus 1 inch is welded to the top of the HSS beam with 1/4-inch fillet welds. Cold-formed steel wall framing is omitted for clarity and referenced to sheet S5.32.
