A wide flange beam connects to a hollow structural section column using a one-inch cap plate and a continuous shear plate that passes directly through the cap plate. Five-sixteenths inch fillet welds attach the shear plate to the cap plate on a typical basis. Four anchor bolts or fasteners secure the column assembly from above. A continuous shear plate runs between opposing beams across the column profile.
