This connection utilizes a WT5x15 tee section welded to the face of a hollow structural section column with a one-quarter inch fillet weld. The wide flange beam is secured to the stem of the tee using three three-quarter inch diameter A325N bolts. Bolt spacing is set at three inches typical, with two and one-half inch edge distances. If the connection occurs at the column end, the hollow structural section column must be capped with a three-eighths inch thick plate, secured with a one-quarter inch fillet weld all around.
