An L4x4x1/2 structural steel angle brace connects between a floor beam and an SMF girder using three-eighths-inch thick gusset plates at each end. Each gusset plate is secured with two one-inch diameter ASTM A325-N bolts. A one-quarter-inch typical fillet weld attaches the connection components, maintaining a one-half-inch minimum typical clearance from the girder web. The brace is detailed with a maximum one-half-inch offset and two-inch centerlines from the structural steel members.
