A W16 wide-flange beam frames into an HSS8x6 structural steel column with a three-bolt connection at the stair roof. The assembly features a three-eighths-inch cap plate welded to the top of the column and a three-eighths-inch plate referenced to detail 10 on sheet S601. Angle sections L6x6x3/8 provide trim at the HSS8x6 and L6x6 members with five-sixteenth-inch welds. A slotted HSS6x6 structural steel tube ties into the vertical alignment. One-quarter-inch fillet welds secure the beam flanges to the column moment connection plates.
