A W10 elevator hoist beam connects to a supporting structural steel member using a full-depth shear plate secured with a two-bolt connection. The beam web is coped to fit flush against the shear plate, which is welded or fastened to the supporting member web. Two vertical high-strength bolts transfer the shear load from the hoist beam into the connection plate.
