An upturned wide-flange beam connects to a hollow structural section column using a half-inch by ten-inch plate fastened with twelve three-quarter-inch diameter A325 bolts centered on the beam web. A three-eighths-inch full-depth stiffener aligns with the beam web and connects to the wide-flange section with quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides typically. An additional three-eighths-inch stiffener is centered on the beam web below, welded with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. The wide-flange beam is supported by an HSS column connection below.
