A steel channel connects to a channel or hollow structural section column using a welded shear plate and machine bolts. The shear plate has a thickness denoted by variable T sized per schedule and is welded to the supported channel. The connection uses an amount Q of five-eighths inch diameter machine bolts as specified in the schedule. An alternate HSS column occurs per plan with the channel positioned at its face. Welds are sized per variable S and the project schedule.
