A wide flange beam or channel connects to a hollow structural section column using plates at the top and bottom of the beam with a thickness matching the beam flange. A bolted connection using specified bolt sizes and counts secures the beam web. Cap plates at the top and bottom of the HSS column integrate with welded connections indicated by standard weld symbols and dimensioned callouts.
