A galvanized steel column is welded to a galvanized steel base plate using a five-sixteenths inch fillet weld. The base plate rests on one and one-half inches of non-shrink grout atop a reinforced concrete footing, sized per plan and schedule. A concrete slab on grade abuts a concrete blockout surrounding the column base.
