An HSS beam connects to an HSS column using top and bottom L4x4x1/4 structural angles welded to the column face with quarter-inch fillet welds and secured to the beam with three-quarter-inch diameter through-bolts. A one-half-inch maximum gap is maintained between the beam end and the column face. The angles are cropped on the outstanding leg to accommodate the geometry.
