A structural steel guardrail assembly is mounted to the top flange of a wide flange beam. One-quarter-inch thick stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web using three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds typical. The stair fabricator provides the guardrail in accordance with the California Building Code, coordinated with architectural drawings for size and details. The wide flange beam size is specified per the structural framing plan.
