Concrete over metal floor deck bears on structural steel beams and is framed at slab openings using steel angle frames. The metal floor deck edge is welded to the angles with three-sixteenths inch fillet welds. An angle frame schedule specifies maximum angle spans for various angle sizes ranging from L5x3x1/4 up to L6x4x5/16. Openings greater than forty-eight inches require contacting the structural engineer.
