A hollow structural section support column connects to a concrete curb over a steel beam. The HSS6x4x3/8 column features a half-inch cap plate at the top and is welded with a five-sixteenths inch fillet weld to a three-quarter by six-inch by one-foot four-inch base plate. The base plate is anchored with six three-quarter-inch diameter by six-inch studs at a six-inch gauge, embedded in the concrete curb. The curb is reinforced with four number six bottom reinforcing bars at eight inches on center, four number six top reinforcing bars at eight inches on center, and number six U-bars. The concrete curb sits directly on the centerline of the supporting steel beam.
