A structural steel beam frames onto a vertical column per plan, terminating at a one-half-inch by six-inch by one-foot-zero-inch cap plate welded to the column top with a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld on three sides. The beam is connected to the cap plate using a pair of L5x3x3/8 by zero-foot-six-inch long vertical leg angles attached with two five-eighth-inch diameter bolts spaced at three inches on center. The connection assembly aligns along the centerline of the column and beam.
