A strut beam connection ties into an existing wide flange beam at a braced frame. An L4x4x1/4 angle attaches to the existing deck or steel-on-metal deck using either two Hilti X-HSN 24 fasteners at twelve inches on center or one half-inch diameter by three and a half-inch nominal embedment concrete screw at twelve inches on center. A web stiffener measuring one-quarter inch is welded with a three-sixteenths fillet weld on three sides typically. The existing wide flange beam connects with quarter-inch fillet welds.
