An existing unreinforced masonry wall is tied parallel to adjacent joists using three-quarter-inch diameter threaded rods anchored on both sides. Couplers join segments of the threaded rods spanning between the joist framing. Typical nuts with plate washers secure the tie rods against the framing members and blocking. Nailers are installed adjacent to the masonry wall. Anchor spacing and locations are determined per plan.
