A buckling-restrained brace passes through a slotted opening in a concrete on steel deck floor slab over a wide-flange beam beyond. A three-eighths-inch thick bent plate coordinates the horizontal leg with the minimum deck bearing length and aligns in the field. A three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld secures the connection at each end of the plate typically. A one-inch typical edge spacing is maintained at the brace penetration.
