This structural detail shows a beam web connected to a steel column flange via a shear plate with standard holes and bolts spaced at three inches on center. A stiffener plate is provided at the top of the column as required by the moment connection, with additional three-quarter-inch stiffener plates added when the dimension X exceeds six inches. Fillet welds of five-sixteenth-inch size connect the shear plate and plates to the members. Standard bolt sizes and quantities are provided per the structural plans.
