A buckling-restrained brace connects to a structural steel column and beam intersection using gusset plates and stiffener plates located on both the near side and far side as required by the manufacturer. Typical stiffener plates are welded to the column web and flanges aligned with the brace gusset connection. Horizontal beams frame into the column flanges with shear tabs and bolted connections. Weld symbols specify the required fillet or groove welds for the gusset and stiffener plates.
