This moment connection joins a wide flange beam to a steel column using complete joint penetration welds with backgouging at both the top and bottom flanges. The beam web is connected to the column using five-eighths inch by web thickness fillet welds on both sides. The assembly ensures full moment transfer between the beam and the supporting steel member.
