A non-frame structural steel column bears on a steel base plate set over a one-and-a-half-inch grout pad above the top of the concrete footing. Four anchor bolts with standard washers and double nuts secure the plate, featuring oversize holes per AISC-360 Table 14-2 with required plate washers. Column leveling is achieved using leveling nuts or shim stacks, with half-nuts permitted. A three-inch diameter grout hole is provided in the base plate, and five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds attach the column flanges to the plate.
