A hollow structural section beam frames into a structural steel column web with a maximum one-half-inch gap. Four-by-four by three-eighths-inch structural angles run the full column depth at the top and bottom of the beam, welded with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. Three-eighths-inch plates measuring three inches wide span each side of the beam web, matched to the column depth plus one inch. Five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds secure the connection components, with identical connections mirrored on each side of the column.
